An Introduction

My name is Grant, and this is Bit Of Red, my personal photography website. I am not all that serious about photography in any sort of commercial or professional manner; rather, I am a fan of the hobby and enjoy engaging with and practicing its artistic, historical, and technical aspects. All of the photography posted on this website is my own unless otherwise stated.

If I had to give this space a motto it would be: “Worry less, shoot more.” In my estimation, to truly enjoy the hobby one must engage with subjects more than they engage with their gear. One must spend time thinking about new or interesting people, places, and things to shoot, rather than whatever big new lens or camera was just released.

If you happen to be a photographer that believes that they NEED to spend $4,000 on a camera body so you can take “good” pictures of your family, this is not going to be a website for you. If on the other hand you are interested in looking at some goofy pictures, reading some of my barely coherent ramblings, or chatting me up, this might be the prime spot.
