We are so Back
To say this place has been neglected would be an understatement. I haven’t substantially updated the homepage photography grid in around five years, and my last blog post was about two and a half years ago. I did add some of my wedding photos as well as some Marine Corps photos around a year and a half ago. However, this website is now back in a more permanent and substantial way. Life and career challenges have subsided to a degree where I feel comfortable giving creative pursuits the proper attention they deserve.
The question that nobody is asking is as follows, “Now that Bit of Red is back up and running, what sorts of content are you going to try to bring to us moving forward?” This is an amazing question and I couldn’t have put it better myself. Simply put, Bit of Red is coming back with a bit of the old, as well as a bit of the new. Photography has always been the main focus on this site and it will continue to be moving into the future. The homepage has been refreshed and I intend to refresh it about once a quarter moving forward. Furthermore, there will be a new section for excursions and trips taken that will be updated any time we go somewhere and capture a few good photos. There is another project in the works, for the first time ever on this website, I am going to try to work with video. As of writing this I don’t have much of a base of experience, but I have access to a decent enough camera for video as well as a low-end field recorder. With those together, I want to create relaxing ambient videos in beautiful locations. Finally, this blog will remain, and I will try to update it about twice a month or so.
With all of that being said, I cannot wait to start posting some of my photography and writing again. Sharing my work does not necessarily come naturally to me, but it is worth doing it rather than letting my photos sit silently on a hard drive or cloud storage, never to be seen by human eyes. Furthermore, I am now living in an area where camera gear is cheap and there is beauty all around. This is going to be fun.
